Cinema35 Specialty Event Rentals began by talking to one customer at a craft market. At the time I was running my other business, Recycled Reels, where I upcycle film reels, cameras, and anything film-related into functional home decor. While I was selling these products at a craft market, I had a customer come up and tell me “I wish I had found you sooner! I just bought all this film décor for my wedding.” What she told me immediately got me thinking. There are a lot of people out there who think that online shopping or thrifting all their event decorations is the only option. I too was one of those people. While planning my wedding I thought that to get the decorations I wanted the only way to find them was to thrift them or shop online and spend more money than necessary.
Once you buy everything, the problem is that you are stuck with the decorations afterward that you will try to sell yourself or end up donating in the end and not getting your money back. It’s not always easy to find the time to list items to sell.
This one person made me realize that I needed to rent cameras, reels, and other movie props for event decorations. As much as I enjoy making my products, I realized there was a need to be filled. No one needs to spend more than they need to on decorations. Besides, renting is more eco-friendly than buying décor that goes unwanted after the event.
